Isaac Hayes: Shaft
Posted by clarkspicks in movies, music, rock, soul, tags: , funk, Isaac Hayes, Isaak Hayes, movies, pop, rock, soulSoul star, composer, film star and South Park character actor Isaac Hayes died today of an apparent heart attack. He was found lying next to a still running treadmill in his Memphis Tennessee home. Hayes was 65 years old.
Here is a clip of a performance from 1973 of Haye’s singing his movie theme song Shaft, for which he won an Oscar and two Grammys. Hayes’ entrance onto the stage is modeled after professional wrestling. Jessie Jackson, with a very full head of hair, is on stage at first and says something off mic to Hayes before exiting the stage. I hope it wasn’t about Barack Obama.

It’s such a sad loss to the music world, he had one of those voices that as soon as you heard it you knew it was him even in South Park.
My husband and I were both shocked, but enjoyed listening to an old interview with him on NPR.
Ps, I don’t know if you realize this, but your 4 column template is not showing everything. I can see the 4th column by a smidge but that is all, I am thinking that is where you have your EC drop icon also?
Just thought I would let you know.
Excellent post - Memphis was in shock about his departure, you can believe that.
Very sad indeed-
Sassaqy Mma Bear, are you using IE7? I’ve had a lot of reports of bad formatting on the blog in IE7.
He left a great sound.
