CD Baby is an online store for independent musicians. CDs are shipped to you from the CD Baby warehouse BUT you are buying them directly from the artist. The recordings I have chosen for this store are people I have worked with, music I have on my radio program, friends and neighbors of mine and all are CDs that I personally recommend.

Dick Durham & Steff Scaggiari “Keyed Up:” Two-piano jazz standards/originals by two world-class pianists; refreshing, original, musical. I’ve known Dick for a long time and have had the pleasure of working with Steff, as a sound technician, more than once. |

Steve Abshire, Vince Lewis, Joe Byrd & Chuck Redd “Live At The Mainstay:” An array of “straight ahead” swinging Jazz standards with a touch of blues and bossa nova. Although I often work at the Mainstay I missed this show, somehow. |

Sue Matthews “When You’re Around:” This “bona fide jazz singer” (JazzTimes), Sue Matthews continues to bring a fresh approach to the jazz standard igniting these arrangements with her breezy abandon and smoldering style. Sue is fantastic and also a friend of mine. |

TheJoe Byrd Quintet “Brazilian Nights:” Recorded live at the Ram’s Head in Annapolis, MD. The songs and artists are all associated with the late Charlie Byrd, including Charlie’s brother Joe Byrd (bass), Steve Abshire (guitar), Chuck Redd (vibes), Mike Shepherd (drums), Robert Redd (piano). These guys are some serious jazz musicians. |

BED “Get Ready For BED:” Classic vocal and instrumental swing jazz performed with heart. Becky Kilgore, Eddie Erickson and Dan Barrett have more fun on stage than anyone else I know. Recently they have added bassisit Joel Forbes to the band, who is a good sport about not spoiling the group’s name by calling it BEDJ. |

In 1980, Rolly won the prestigious Nat’l Guitar Fingerpicking Championships held annually in Winfield KS. Afterwards, he settled in Philadelphia, where he studied jazz guitar with Joseph Federico. He produced a weekly public radio show called “Guitar Wizards” for three years, and played backup guitar for many folk luminaries who passed through Philly while also pursuing a solo career. In 1989 he was nominated for a Philadelphia Music Award as best instrumentalist in folk music. He also taught me a thing or two, if I could only remember them. |
